Group Residential Living
The Brambles owns and operates ten private group homes at four separate locations in Mathews County, on Virginia’s Middle Peninsula.  Homes are grouped together in a neighborhood like setting and each home is custom-built and designed to meet the needs of intellectually and physically disabled residents.  Gourmet kitchens, decorative gathering spaces, private bedrooms, large baths, and immaculate surroundings meet the exacting standards of owners Clyde and Mary Forrest.

Each home provides comfortable outdoor gathering spaces.

Care is available 24/7 with trained, dedicated professionals who lovingly encourage residents to positively interact, respect their housemates, and conduct themselves at their highest level of ability.  They help residents prepare meals, perform housekeeping duties, and tend to each resident’s personal needs including dispensing medications, and bathing.

Our residents may lead as active a lifestyle as they choose and are capable of having. In-home activities and events are planned, along with outings to nearby entertainment including, bowling, movie theaters and the beach.

Locations

Bella Terra Residences
The Bella Terra Road location is the first home site designed and built with the needs of the intellectually, physically disabled and autistic adults in mind. The six Brambles Bella Terra Road group residences, which are located in the town of North, are set on 55 acres of private land. When the Forrests purchased the land, it was heavily wooded and covered in a thicket of thorny brambles. Hence, the name “Brambles” was chosen for the enterprise. The Forrests cleared the bramble bushes and built a community of caring in a safe, natural environment.

The Bella Terra homes are large, open-spaced environments, each one unique — with names that reflect their style. The Hacienda, Carriage House, Lodge, Villa, Cottage, and Manor are themed and decorated by Clyde and Mary with comfortable furnishings, large gathering kitchens, and roomy, modern bathrooms. Wide screen TVs, puzzles, and board games offer residents diversions and the opportunity to socialize or quietly relax.

New Life Harbor Residences
The New Life Harbor location includes The Coastal and The Boston set on 84 acres of active farmland, approximately three miles away from Bella Terra Road.

The Windsor residence, recently renovated to meet the Brambles standard, is located on Windsor Rd. between the Bella Terra and New Life Harbor Residences.
